By mains
supply and in some cases supplemented by wells in Northern Cyprus.
There is a serious shortage of water in many areas of Northern
Cyprus and would be residents are advised to ascertain the position in the
area they plan to live, particularly when considering purchase of
property. Some areas in North Cyprus have better mains supply of water
than others, some have spring water as well as piped water. It is not
advised to drink well water unless it has been analysed. Septic tanks are
still the main method of disposal of domestic waste and sewage and
therefore well water could be affected. Soak aways are also used. Water is
connected by mains from each village and is metered to each house, and so
is the electricity. Telephone (landline) is also available in villages of
Northern Cyprus that are connected to this service.
