Welcome to
Cyprus, the island of Aphrodite, beauty and sandy beaches that bathe
year-round under the warm, eastern Mediterranean sun.
Cyprus is the easternmost and the third biggest island in the Mediterranean Sea, after Sicily and Sardinia. Cyprus is located west of Israel, south of Turkey and north of Egypt. Significant geographic features of Cyprus include the Trodos Mountains that cover most of the southwestern part of Cyprus, the ‘Five Fingers’ mountain range in the north of Cyprus stretching from west of Sadrazamkoy, Kyrenia all the way until the tip of the Karpas Peninsula. The beautiful Five Finger Mountain range of Northern Cyprus is located very close to the seashore and runs parallel to the east-west coastline of Kyrenia. The range is covered with pine, carob and olive trees and verdant valleys fringed with golden beaches stretching for miles. The magnificent history of Cyprus, over 10,000 years long, has seen many civilisations come and go ranging from Alexander the Great to Aphrodite. Throughout history, Cyprus has been at the crossroad of many great civilisations. Its strategic location between Europe, The Middle East and Africa along with its ideal position on the ancient trade routes, made Cyprus a very attractive place to the powerful empires in various eras of history. During this long history, its powerful neighbours inevitably over took Cyprus as they periodically ruled the Eastern Mediterranean. The North part of Cyprus, Northern Cyprus is truly ‘A corner of earth touched by heaven!’ covering an area of 3,355 square kilometres. With its unique historic treasures and many natural beauties, Northern Cyprus is a paradise. In addition to luxury hotels, clean beaches and traditional Turkish Cypriot hospitality, you can also find here little and cozy restaurants, typical of Northern Cyprus, which provide a vast variety of local Turkish Cypriot dishes like Kebab, stuffed vegetables and other local traditional delicacies. The official language of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is Turkish. English however, is also widely spoken in Northern Cyprus. The capital of Northern Cyprus is Nicosia (Lefkosa). |
